Your "discovery" day
Walk in Termes - The Little Stroll and the Termenet Gorges
Between wild nature and heritage
Starting point: The gîtes of the Bergerie du Prat de Mu
Your day begins at the Bergerie du Prat de Mu , peaceful and discreet, nestled in the heart of unspoiled nature. From the very first steps, the path (white markings to the gorges car park) guides you into a pastoral atmosphere, where you may come across our ponies, horses and donkeys.
Pass through the parking lot and descend towards the Gorges du Termenet
You will quickly reach the parking lot of the Gorges du Termenet , before diving into the spectacular mineral world of the Gorges du Termenet . This steep passage, sculpted by the flowing waters of the Sou River, offers a striking contrast between the gray rock and the emerald of the water. The path, sometimes clinging to the walls, reveals the power of time and the elements.
On the Little Stroll towards the Château de Termes
After this warm-up in the gorges, you will begin, halfway between the gorges and the car park, the climb by the path called the Petite Vadrouille (yellow markings) , a bucolic route which winds between box trees and holm oaks. It will take you to the summit of history: the Château de Termes . Perched on its rocky spur, it dominates the valley and silently recounts the dark hours of the Crusade against the Albigensians. A stop is essential to take in this breathtaking panorama.
Discovery of the village of Termes and lunch at the Auberge
The descent to the village of Termes is gentle, punctuated by superb views of the village's rooftops and narrow streets. In this charming setting, the Auberge de Termes welcomes you for a well-deserved break. Enjoy local produce on its riverside terrace in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Return via the La Frau belvedere and the Termenet Gorges
The afternoon continues on the Petite Vadrouille , heading towards the La Frau belvedere . This natural promontory offers a breathtaking view of the rugged terrain of the Corbières and the gorges below. The trail then begins its final descent, plunging one last time into the Gorges du Termenet , where low light and the murmur of water poetically close the loop.
Estimated distance: approximately 9 km
Duration: 4 to 5 hours depending on pace and breaks
Level: medium (some steep passages in the gorges)
Tips: good walking shoes, water, hat and camera
A walk where the power of the landscapes and the memory of the stones blend together, for a complete immersion in the soul of the Corbières.
The route offers an ideal summary for short stays at the Bergerie du Prat de Mu.
